hi, just want to ask your opinion regarding hyundai ioniq hybrid.. whats your opinion
Hyundai Ioniq is a compact five door liftback manufactured and marketed by Hyundai. The nameplate Ioniq is a portmanteau of ion and unique. It is the first automobile to be offered in hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric variants.
The Malaysia, Hyundai Ioniq hybrid was launced in 2017.
Some feedback of user for this car
Solid Dashboard (only dashboard, door panels are cheap plastic kind like myvi type panels)
Alot of kit
Comfortable seats. Thick and firm
Not bad handling for a Hybrid
Pretty cool display cluster. The speedo is a display type
Good FC according to SA. 800-1k km per tank.
Engine is really underpowered. Had to almost floor the pedal everytime to get the car moving. Even with 265Nm torque, it felt way lesser than that. Its not a rev happy engine.
The brakes, someone claim, "The brakes are one of the worst brakes i have ever used in a long time. You have to press hard and long for the car to stop."
And it has a funny grinding sound to it.
The ride is not the best. Kinda hard.
Some discussion on benefit of Hybrid cars in Malaysia is quite limited.
Europeans and the rest of the western world buy it simply because of tax breaks and fee of charge entry into cities. Before that diesel was the prime choice , extremely torque and fuel saving.
Come to Malaysia , hybrid cars don't get tax breaks, no one gets charged to enter the city, fuel is cheap, no emission charges, and it's a wonder what the motivation of buying a hybrid is in Malaysia. Besides that there is constant fear of something going bad for a relatively new technology (Last year Toyota issued car recall for 1 million of it's Hybrid cars), battery (Cost around RM10k to replace after 8 years warranty), electronics mulfunction and so on. Furthermore hybrids cost even more than regular cars. Resale value for Hybrid is quite poor as well even among branded Japanese cars like Honda and Toyota. Korean car like Hyundai will fare worse.
